Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia and is the world's youngest republic. It is bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China, and to the south, east, and west by the Republic of India. With an area of 147,181 square kilometers and a population of approximately 28 million, Nepal is the world's 93rd largest country by land mass and the 41st most populous country. Kathmandu is the nation's capital.
Nepal is a country of highly diverse and rich geography, cultures, and religions. Perhaps no other country boasts such a huge diversity in all within such a limited land mass, a truly diverse world in itself. The mountainous north contains eight of the world's 14 highest mountains, including the highest, Mount Everest. Nepal is commonly divided into three physiographic areas: the Mountain, Hill, and Terai Regions. The beautiful Himalayan Glaciers brightens up the high himalayas and then the melted white waters carves through the majestic hills in the middle and then nourishes the fertile southern plains enriching the flora and fauna. Although Hinduism is practiced by a majority of the population, the nation also has a strong Buddhist tradition, and in many aspects the perfectly harmonious blend of Buddhism and Hinduism has uniquely cradled here for centuries. There is existence of other religions like Islam, Christianity and pre-historice faith like Bonpo.
Nepal is the holy land of Lord Pashupatinath and Gautam Buddha where the Hindus and Buddhists have lived together in harmony for centuries. The Temple of Pashupatinath is Nepal’s most scared Hindu shrine and one of the four most important holy places in the world for Shiva worshippers. Lord Buddha, the light of Asia, was born in Lumbini in Nepal’s southern plains, which makes Nepal a scared pilgrimage destination for Buddhists as well. Lumbini is the first place to be visited before taking spiritual journey to four highly significant pilgrimage sites of Buddhism. Nepal's heritage is alive and dynamic. Shamanism and ancient rituals are still practiced in remote regions. Temples, shrines, monuments and monasteries are extremely active with devotees burning butter-lamps, singing hymns, chiming temple bells and playing drums. The only country that has living goddess "Kumari" , Nepal is truly an amazing country.
Nepal is popular for being one of the most exotic adventure destinations
where one can get involved with various activities such as trekking,
tour, rafting, jungle safari and expeditions; see it the way you
like it but what you will embark on is heavenly discovery and
truly paradise on earth. It's a magical place, where one gets
to indulge oneself into the luscious nature. The purity still
preserves the diversity in culture which one can experience merely
with a walk through the hills unlike taking half a day flight
elsewhere in the world. Nepal is the "Land of Paradise"
for cultural tourists, trekkers and mountaineers. The natural
landscape of mountains, rivers, glacial lakes, forests, wild animals,
favorable climate and the hospitality of the Nepalese people and
their culture are the main attractions. To sum up Nepal in a single
sentence is: Nepal is a mosaic of culture, tradition, adventure,
and its ever smiling people nestled beneath towering Himalayas,
beautified by rare flora and fauna.
