Mount Kailash

Bhutan

The Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan “Land of the Thunder Dragon” also known as the last paradise on earth, is slowly emerging from centuries of self-imposed isolation. Closed for the outside world until early seventies years, Bhutan has adopted the regulated tourism policy for its visitors in this tiny Himalayan Kingdom. It allows only a limited number of tourists to enter the country granting tourist visa. The most interesting thing about Bhutan is that it has retained its religious and cultural values despite of encroachment of modern civilization in every nook and corner of the world. Known for its Shangri-La image, this Buddhist Kingdom is inhabited by Sharchopas, Bumthangpa and Ngalongpas and they are graciously gentle and very hospitable. The tourism in Bhutan opened only after the coronation of the present king, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck in 1974. Unspoiled majestic virgin peaks, unique cultural heritage preserved for many centuries, an architectural style like no others, a land full of warm hearted and friendly people have made Bhutan a truly unique destination. You will still find its past in the present.
